Travis was glad to be back at camp. There were tons of girls and unchartered territory. It didn’t matter to him if they had a boyfriend or not, he was going to get what he wanted, no matter what it took. In all honesty, he was a boy of persuasion and usually that was enough to get his way. It was a gift and he wouldn’t know what he would do if he got stuck without his charm. His looks helped too, not everyone had the privilege of being as handsome as he was. Of course, this was his confidence talking and he did tend to think a little too highly of himself. It didn’t seem to matter to most girls though. He smirked to himself as he thought about how this summer was going to be. There would be bonfires, hookups, parties, rule breaking and all of that sounded just amazing to him. Hopefully, somewhere along the line, he’d find a chickie or three to share that experience with. And hopefully, the camp would be big enough so that he wouldn’t get caught with different ones.
He wondered where the day would lead him but he wasn’t too concerned with that. His green eyes scanned the grass that was equal in color to his eyes. The woods lie just before him and once he was hidden from view, he pulled out his cell phone to text Tay, his best friend. His masculine voice mumbled as he held his phone up as if that would help the reception. Damned you. He whispered, barely audible as he finally found enough bars to send a text. Where is my lovely? Yeah, they were “just friends” but that didn’t stop him from thinking about that title more than he should. If he was being honest, he would have said that he would like to give them a try, but he didn’t act on it. Travis knew that he would end up hurting her somehow whether it be cheating or getting arrested. If there was anything in this world he could prevent it was to hurt Taylor’s feelings. There were a few times he had acted upon her behalf and stood up against her ex boyfriends but he hoped he wouldn’t have to do that this year. Maybe she would find a nice boy to be with; a virgin.
Stepping over a fallen log, he navigated through the woods via the path. He wasn’t worried about getting lost as he had been through these woods so many times before that he knew eventually, he would come to a clearing. It would be sunny and beautiful and the perfect place to just take a nap. He’d taken Taylor there before but he wasn’t sure if she knew where he was headed as it had been two days since he had seen her last.. Upon reaching said clearing, he sat himself on a rock and waited for the reception to kick in to receive her message.

Taylor chewed on her bottom lip as she stood in the middle of the woods, trying to figure out where she was. Her brown eyes darted from tree to tree, looking for a way out, but everything looked the same. Everything was just so green! Now what was she supposed to do? Wander around in the woods until she found her way out? Hell no! She could like, get eaten by a bear or something. And that's what you get for trying to act all tough by coming into the woods by yourself. Tay thought to herself before pushing her hair out of her eyes. Now she had gotten herself in here, so she had to be able to get herself out right? So all she had to do was retrace her steps... Had she come in from the left? Or was it the right?
" GR! I'm so, so stupid. " Taylor growled at herself. Well it's not like she could just stand there and wait for someone to save her, so she would have to start walking. Hopefully she wouldn't get herself too far away from camp. " AH! " The girl screamed when she felt her phone vibrate in her pocket. Oh, now the thing decided to work. Great! Just great! Feeling completely frustrated, Taylor flipped open her phone and glanced down at the screen. The message was from Trav and he was asking where she was. Ha! Now what was she supposed to say? Shaking her head, she quickly wrote " I'm currently lost in the woods and trying to find my way out like a helpless idiot. " Then she pressed send and stuffed the phone back into her pocket. Great, now she would have a worried Travis who would probably get a bulldozer and tear down the whole damn forest trying to look for her. Man, the girl really needed to learn how to be more careful. She'd have to remind Trav to get her a GPS for her birthday or something, because getting lost was not fun at all. You felt completely helpless and alone. Oh, and let's not forget the fear. But that part hadn't got to Taylor yet, because she was pretty fearless. She liked to show people that she wasn't just a pretty face, she was also very daring. And that was what had gotten her into this mess. A few of her friends had dared her to come in her by herself, and because she didn't want to back down from the challenge, she went in. Ugh, I really need to learn how to say no.. Taylor thought and wiped her forehead with the back of her hand.
With a heavy sigh, the girl began walking forward. Her hands would grab on to a tree every once in a while, trying to keep herself from tripping over any sticks or fallen trees. Tilting her head up, Taylor glanced up at the sky. She'd been expecting to see the sun shining brightly in the blue sky, but the tall trees were blocking out most of the sunlight. Taylor growled and grumbled something under her breath and continued to walk, but then she tripped. A massive sized log had been in her way, and she hadn't seen it. So, of course, the clumsy girl fell forward and did a little roll in the dirt, getting leaves and dirt in her hair and clothes. " That is the last time I ever come in to this stupid place. " She mumbled before looking up to see Travis. " Oh... er.... hiya there. " She said before blushing a bright red.

Travis looked down as the silence was interrupted by Taylor. Shaking his head, he smiled down at her before offering to pick her up. You certainly know how to make an entrance, He commented lightly as he began to pick the leaves out of her hair. Taylor’s clumsiness was adorable and he really wouldn’t have it any other way. She was like his Bella in that she was always getting herself in trouble. Did you get lost again? his eyes narrowed suspiciously as if he had expected her to lie to him. Travis wasn’t that stupid and he knew her sense of direction wasn’t that great, especially in the forest where things looked the same from every direction. Taking his place back on the rock, his gaze returned to the openness in front of them. It was very serene and tranquil that it made him wish that every aspect of life was like this. But life was stressful and agonizing sometimes; that’s just the way things are. Being with Taylor also helped. He could feel his heartbeat slowing to a calm, rested pulse as he drifted off into his memory for a few seconds and became used to the sound of the birds once more.
A few more seconds past before he turned to look at her again. You shouldn’t have wandered into the woods alone. He laughed more to himself. What would have you done if you hadn’t tripped and found me? His tone was light yet scolding at the same time. Didn’t Taylor ever learn from her mistakes? I only say this cause I care, you know? What would Travis do without her for the rest of the summer, for the rest of forever? Surely he would be terribly upset if she got eaten by a bear or some other carnivorous animal lurking in the woods. Travis didn’t want to chance that happening ever again. Taking her small hand in his masculine one, he smirked and pulled her into a hug. Three days was too long, even if they were only besties. He didn’t want to wait that long to see her again.
How’s that boyfriend of yours? he teased lightly as he always did. Subconsciously, Trav made sure he knew what was going on in her love life so he could prevent her from hurt in any way possible. If he wasn’t so frivolous with his “love” he would go out with her but he knew that was a recipe for disaster because no matter how hard he tried to limit himself to one girl, the more he felt the need to be with another one. He blamed himself though since he was terrified of anything serious or committed. The boy hadn’t even chosen a college yet because he was afraid of limiting his options even now that time was running out. One year left. What would happen to him and Taylor then if he decided to move far away to be with unchartered territory? Wincing at his own thoughts, he pushed them away, not wanting to think any further on the subject.

Taylor sat there on the ground, not wanting to get up and face Travis because she knew that he'd be disappointed in her for wandering out in the woods alone. So, she kept her eyes on a little twig that was laying in the dirt and played with it a little. She knew that she was acting like the guilty child who had just stolen the last cookie from the cookie jar, but hey! That was just how she was, and she was pretty sure that Travis liked that about her. " Yes, yes I do. But let's not forget that wonderful log over there for helping me out. " Taylor said with a bright smile, trying to distract Travis. But of course, he didn't fall for her subject change. With a sigh, she finally got up and let him take out some of the junk from her hair. "..... no.... " She began, but his stare made her squirm. " FINE! I did get lost. But it wasn't my fault! My friends dared me to and you know I can't back down from a dare! " She said in a flood of words then crossed her arms over her chest and pouted when Travis went back over to his rock. So what if she'd gotten lost? Why did he care huh? Taylor shook her head, feeling the annoyance and anger make her blood rise. No, she wasn't really mad at Travis, she was just pissed off at herself for being so foolish. And it wasn't like she had never done anything like this before... so you would think she'd learn to stay out of big places where she could easily get lost, but no. She just loved the thrill and had to go back for more. Stupid, stupid, STUPID!
Taylor turned her back on Travis and began to walk down the path a little. Well... it was a path... and she couldn't get too lost right? So maybe just a little walk, you know, to explore a little... " Huh? " Tay froze and turned around to see Trav looking at her. Her gaze dropped down to the ground, making her look a little guilty. " I know... but I couldn't help myself. " She mumbled and kicked the dirt as she began walking back over to Travis. " I... I don't know. I probably would have walked around for hours until I gave up. " the girl shrugged her shoulders and stopped in front of his rock. She peeked up at him through her lashes to see his expression. He didn't look too mad, just a little concerned. This was a good sign. " Yeah, I know, and that is why I love you. " A bright smile lit her face and a little squeak came from her lips when he pulled her into a hug. That was when she realized how much she really had missed him, and how glad she was that she had stumbled upon him.
Taylor stuck her tongue out at him when he asked about her 'boyfriend'. " You know there is only one man for me. " She replied with a laugh of her own, then pulled herself into his lap. Of course she didn't take up too much room, and she wasn't really that heavy, but she still felt a bit self conscious. But after a while, she relaxed and leaned into him a little. Sometimes it was hard to believe that these two were really only best friends. Like, they were just so close and they got along so well. Every now and again Tay would wonder what it would be like to actually be with Travis... but he'd never said anything about it so she thought that he didn't think of her that way. But that didn't mean she didn't think of him that way. Taylor sighed a little and rested her head on his shoulder. " You know, if you really don't like it when I get lost then you should like... put a GPS tracking system in my watch or something. " She offered him before letting out a totally girly giggle.

There was just something about Taylor that made her so adorable. Maybe it was her poor sense of direction or the cute look on her face when she felt ashamed or sad. He hadn’t meant it to seem like he was scolding her or anything like that; he just wanted her to be mindful of where she was wandering. Travis sighed as he stared at her and took a mental picture of her cute pout. A small laugh came from within his masculine chest. And I love you too, Tay. With his arms around her, he felt like he belonged somewhere. For a brief moment, he didn’t feel like a cassanova who spent most of his nights bed hopping. He felt like a real guy, a normal guy who might have a chance at something real. As much as he wanted that to be true, he knew that he would never really find someone as good as Taylor to settle down with. His relationship with Taylor was too much to risk on some silly “happy family” fantasy he had building in his mind the more he got lonely. It would have to be thrown away and never thought about again because the chances of that happening were seriously below zero.
He laughed once more at her comment. Oh, common, you know that there’s at least one other guy you’ll meet that’s way better than I am. Yes, it pained him to say this but he knew she would be better off if he tried to push her away. Besides, you don’t want someone who probably has a ton of baby mommas that he doesn’t know about. He tried to keep his mind off of his own feelings for the time being as they would only ruin the fun they were having. We’ll find you one. Truth was that he hated seeing Taylor with other guys, it made him insanely jealous and he didn’t even know why. He always blamed it on his alcohol consumption but he knew that wasn’t always the case. A small smirk appeared on his lips as she giggled. Or, I could just never leave you alone again, that way, you won’t be swayed by your pressuring peers. How does that sound? He was, of course, joking. There was absolutely no way he could be at her side for every minute though he’d like to be. There were certain boy/girl restrictions at camp and he would really like to stay for the entire duration of the summer and not risk getting kicked out.

Travis' words had hit something inside of her. Yeah she knew that he hadn't really meant anything by it, but it still did something to her. Just hearing him say those three little words made her heart melt and she just wanted to lay there forever in his arms. So what if he slept around? That just made Travis who he was, and she accepted that. She knew that he had problems when it came to keeping up with a solid relationship, and that he was afraid of being faithful and settling down... but she really didn't care. Taylor trusted him with her whole heart. Something inside her told her that Travis would never purposefully try to hurt her. With a happy kind of sigh, Taylor melted into his arms and nuzzled her head into his chest. Right now she really felt at peace... and even a little tired, which was odd because Taylor was never tired, especially when she was in a cool place like the woods. You would think she'd have Travis show her around a little, but she really didn't feel like moving. All she really wanted to do was stay there in his arms, feeling safe and loved. But of course she knew that Trav didn't mean it like that. He was just being his usual friendly self. This was their normal. They would cuddle up together, but they'd never let it go any further... no matter how much she longed for it. " if only you meant it.... she thought to herself before she let her fingers pull at his shirt.
Taylor sighed heavily and let her head drop back on his arm while her arm flew out to her side, making for a dramatic effect. " Please! You know that you're the only man for me. No matter how many flaws you may have. " She said, drawing out her words. She knew that on the inside she actually meant that, but on the outside you could see the teasing, playful smile on her lips. " Hmm... this is true... but I'd deal with it. " Tay said and pulled herself back up so she could snuggle up in his strong arms again. " Mm... nope! I only have eyeeeesss for youuuuu! " The girl said with a wide grin and waggled her eyebrows a little before she giggled again, feeling a little bubbly inside. But when Trav began to talk again she sobered up and listed to him carefully. " OH, OH, OH! I liiiiiike that idea! " She shouted and bounced up and down in his lap while clapping her hands like a little girl. Yes, she knew that she was probably making a complete fool of herself right now, but she didn't really care. Just being near him was making her feel so happy inside! It was like she had just downed ten Red Bulls. Yeah, she was about ready to start climbing trees and all that jazz. But at the same time, she did not want to leave his arms. Actually, it was the feelings of being held by him that was making her this way. So she felt that it would be better, and safer, if she just stayed put. " You see! I knew you had a brain up there. " Tay chirped and poked his forehead with her little finger.
