This particular day was one that Katrina had been waiting for, counting down the days for one reason alone. It was her birthday and although she usually didn’t care for it, today was special. Of course she had no reason to think it was special, after all, it was just another birthday; just another year older. But she couldn’t help but to wake up this morning feeling unusually happy for no reason at all. The early morning and afternoon hours were spent at some day spa that Delilah had dragged her to. Normally, Pixie would have protested but since she was in no mood to argue, she went along with Delilah’s plans. The girl was her best friend and one of the best party planners ever so Pixie knew that if she wanted to have fun, Delilah would make sure of that.
The spa had proved to be more than relaxing and just the thing Pixie needed to de-stress and unwind. Usually, Pixie would never be caught doing anything “girly” but this… she didn’t mind it too much. She got to gossip with her bestie about all of the things they needed to get caught up on while they got massages, pedicures, and facials. Pix’s hair was freshly dyed and that always gave her a bit of happiness. It was the small things like hair dye and her curling iron that made her day better. After their little outing, Pix went back to her hotel room for a nap to further enjoy herself and the freedom that came with being her. It was a short nap, no longer than twenty minutes before she heard a knocking at the door. Delilah was there once again to order her around into some “better looking” clothes. Once again, no argument was made simply because she didn’t want to be difficult. Delilah didn’t have much patience and wouldn’t hesitate yelling at her. An angry Delilah was not pleasant at all; Travis would know.
Pixie saw absolutely nothing wrong with the way she was dressed. Simple jeans and a tee shirt; why did she have to change? It wasn’t like they were going out to dinner or a play or anywhere special. Weren’t they just going to stop by Tom’s show and then hop on a plane to sunny California? The last she heard, that was the plan. But if she was getting this dressed up… maybe there was something she didn’t know. Pix couldn’t help but to make a face at the dress that she was supposed to wear. Toole and lace, it was almost everything she hated but she had to admit, Delilah was a fashion genius and it would make her look good. Pixie felt like a doll, since out of nowhere a crew came to do her make up and hair to make her all pretty. It was a bit weird and out of the ordinary but she couldn’t say she minded. It made her feel important; like she was someone famous. She stared at herself in the mirror feeling a bit odd. There had to be something secretive going on. Try as she might, Pixie couldn’t figure it out and eventually she gave up. She wasn’t going to spend her time worrying too much on her birthday when the whole point of this was to relax.
Finally, she was finished and she had but one minute to observe the work they had done. Pix really didn’t remember the last time she looked this good. She smirked to herself for a moment before her arm was tugged. Looking down, her blue eyes barely had time to blink before she was tugged again. After that, things happened pretty quickly. Before she knew it she was sitting in a limo with Delilah beside her. So do you want to tell me what’s going on? Where are we going? Pix looked down at her hands and tried hard to be patient but she couldn’t. She had been patient all day and now she wanted some answers. Please, just give me a hint. Pix gave her best pleading face as the limo sped on though the dark streets. It was too dark to see out and that too was frustrating.
